During Monterey Car Week 2024, Luca Trazzi revealed the design of his one-off Porsche 911 Speedester. He describes it as his dream car as he is a long-time fan of the Speedster models. It took him, his team and the Porsche special request experts over three years to complete the design of the 911 Speedster, which was tailored exactly to the Italian designer’s specifications. From the bold yellow tone to the thin black frame, it’s safe to say it’s worth it.

Luca Trazzi’s Porsche 911 Speedster has 18-inch light-alloy wheels painted black with yellow Fineline. They complement the bright Otto Yellow bodywork, which appears unique throughout the exterior. When the driver climbs in, the Speedster relies on craftsmanship with black leather upholstery, yellow stitching and a checkered pattern on the seat centers. They are all hand-tailored, exactly the way Luca Trazzi wants them.

Reviving a car from 1971 can be a challenge that Ora Ïto and Renault are happy to take on as they bring back the R17 and transform it into a retro-futuristic concept car. In an interview with designboom, the French designer discusses the process of redesigning the R17 with Renault’s Sandeep Bhambra. He says that the design of the car is consistent and consistent and that he doesn’t want his car to look like a “Transformer.”

He uses “simplexity,” or his design philosophy that focuses on simplifying complex design elements. Due to the design of the R17, which is available as both a coupe and a convertible, the exterior appears visually uniform, while the interior conveys a homely atmosphere. Ora Ïto tells designboom that this is exactly what he strives for in the interior design process: he wants to create interiors that are not reminiscent of the interior of a typical car.

Forty years after its debut in 1984, Honda’s radical HP-X concept car returns and the automaker is bringing it to Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance during Monterey Car Week 2024. The roof slopes down at the front to form the vehicle’s wedge design, and carved lines on the sides of the car flow as they rise from below. HP-X is a collaboration between Honda and Pininfarina.

The duo presents a futuristic canopy in purple tones by replacing the traditional doors. They use honeycomb panels, carbon fiber and Kevlar as some of the main materials for the design, and inside the seemingly velvety upholstery is colored red and purple. While the looks are retro, the technologies are advanced through the use of real-time telemetry, GPS and advanced driver assistance systems.

With the Supercat, TWR has a super grand tourer car in mind. The design is based on the Jaguar XJS as well as several of the automaker’s racing vehicles, including the XJR-9, the XJR-15 and the XJ220 supercar. A design feature that the Supercat and Jaguar XJS have in common are the buttresses at the rear. If the viewer looks at the steel-made vehicle from the side, they can see the rear rise until it reaches its peak and becomes pointed.

The design team uses carbon fiber for the car to reduce overall weight, and the vehicle is equipped with rear-wheel drive and a six-speed manual transmission. Inside, the homage to the Jaguar XJS continues with the leather-trimmed cabin, from the door panels to the steering wheel and dashboard. The leather seats are also made from carbon fiber and there is a fully digital multimedia interface with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
