Tortorella not safe about Jakob Pelletier’s role in Flyern

Jakob Pelletier was considered a fascinating part of the return from the Calgary Flames in the trade, who sent Morgan Frost and Joel Farabee to Alberta. The 24-year-old winger was a former election in the first round, had unreal goals in the AHL and never really had a real opportunity in the team that designed him. The Philadelphia Flyers should be a new environment to see whether it could be a long -term option for a team in the middle of a reconstruction.

Unfortunately, head coach John Tortorella is still not sure how he uses him and does not really want to hand over a bigger role now.

In the 12 games he played for the Flyers-in the average of only 8:46 ICE-TIME and during this time it earned a total of two templates-and did not step on the ice during a power game or a penalty murder. This is a very limited role that was put on a fourth line with the veteran of Rodrigo Abols and the fighter Nic Deslaurier, the veteran of Minor-League. Therefore, a whole series of questions about Pelletier’s future role is asked and the general desire to play more is to grow.

It is a little mental standstill for Tortorella.

“I want to see a few games. He made a few games on the way. It is difficult for me to read on because we are in these narrow games and he doesn’t get much ice age,” said Tortorella on Wednesday afternoon.

“But I can see – what I love about him is his enthusiasm, his skating. He is a short player. Little worried about the size, I am not sure what it fits. Is he big enough to check? I don’t think he will be a productive scorer in the league. See on and we will see where it is going.”

Pelletier is 5-foot-9, but the scouting report about him is that he plays larger than its actual size. As Tortorella mentioned, he is a rapidly moving player and has largely avoided large, massive checks through his career.

So if tortorella is not sure what he can do, why is he not just giving him a greater opportunity to see it? The flyers certainly do not make playoffs. So why not experiment and answer some questions into a summer in which you either have to sign the upcoming restricted free agent for a new contract, or not even a qualified offer and he becomes 24-year-old on the open market, as Ryan Poehling was?

Phols Charlie O’Connor is rightly pressing back on Tortorella’s assessment by Pelletier, which does not have enough ice age. After all, Tortorella is responsible for who gets most of the ice age.

“This is the fine line. We try to win in every game that we play. I know that it is a situation in which the win” Yes, you win, but where does that bring you? “I just can’t approach it that way.” But we will see. I think Lycksell did a few good things – I thought of switching there, but Lycksell made a few good pieces. So why don’t I look at him any further? It will all come into play when we play the games and see where we are and where the moment of the games is to see if I can find it more. “

There are some half -truths. The Flyers didn’t play in many narrow games. In the 12 games with Jakob Pelletier in the line-up, the flyers have a 4-7-1 record, and although the documents are not miserable-a little less than 50 percent attempt at 5 and Philadelphia have a total number of goalkeeper from a goalkeeper. When it comes to actual goals, there were only limited “close” games.

But it is true that Olle Lycksell, who has just worked with Ryan Poehling and Bobby Brink, did not look out of place. And while his name is a bit older as a farmers, he is still only two years older than pelleters. Does Lycksell have a massive future with the flyers? Probably not. So we could just as well find out whether the guy who produced in every single league apart from the NHL and has the first round.

We will not argue that Pelletier is a bit of a special player. It has the lower energy without having a Bottom-Six frame (it is also known if this is important at all). But it is only a little frustrating to have this important unknown secret of a player who is just hanging around with two strikers who would not try to win games in any NHL team and play less than nine minutes in the evening.

It’s purely anecdotic, but you want to know that one Time Pelletier played an outstanding role in a team this season? When he was in Calgary, the 24-year-old played against the Chicago Blackhawks in a game on January 13 and scored two goals and three whole points in the game. Obviously Chicago is a bad team, but still!

We also get tortorella will never treat an NHL game as an experiment. Playoffs are out of the question, but he still wants to win games and adhere to what works and will not break a line just to find out something about another. But what if he did it? Is it so dangerous to bring pelleters in Lycksells? Tyson Foerster has two points in his last nine games. Is that something that deserves security in the list?

We do not want this line-up to be a free-for-all and only summarizes interesting combinations for the world, but it has the feeling that we miss it when we see what a newly acquired player can play with this team and what role he can play when this team is good again.
