Transatlantic flights flew over 800 miles per hour after the weather had juicy the jet stream

• On Wednesday, at least two transatlantic flights reached top floor speeds over 800 miles per hour.

• They were still technically different because they were driven by a faster jet stream.

• The recent cold weather has strengthened the jet stream and the climate crisis will tighten this.

Some transatlantic flights drove faster than the sound speed this week.

It is not the return of Concorde stakedesses flew regular large body jets through an accelerated jet stream.

According to FLIGHTRADAR24, Qatar Airways flight 704 reached an upper floor speed of 833 miles per hour when he crossed the Atlantic on Wednesday.

The Boeing 777, which flies from New York to Doha, landed about 50 minutes before the schedule.

The climate crisis means that the Jet streams become stronger and therefore faster.

It causes an increasing energy difference between two layers of the atmosphere, which give the jet currents more energy.

This also enlarges Rossby waves -meanders in the jet stream -which creates more friction in the air and increases the risk of turbulence at the edges of the jet stream.
