Transform your space and prepare your home for the holidays

Heidi Bolyard of Simplified Living Architecture joined Phil and Katie on Good Day Columbus to help you prepare your home for Thanksgiving and the rest of the holiday season. Here are some tips she shared:

Tidy up and create space for togetherness: Clutter increases stress. Simply organizing can make any room feel more inviting and create a more peaceful environment where family members can come together and celebrate without distractions.

Create space for coats and bags in the entrance area: Tips to make guests feel welcome so they can settle in as soon as they arrive.

Create a self-service beverage station: Set up a corner for a self-service beverage station for guests to help themselves to reduce traffic in the kitchen.

Brighten your home with warm lighting to create inviting spaces: Swapping out cool or bright white bulbs for warmer, softer options can transform your home into a cozy retreat.

Create a cozy children’s corner: Set up a dedicated children’s area to keep them entertained and give parents a little time out.

Create an interactive decoration with a gratitude garland or memory jar: Family and friends can write down things they are grateful for or a favorite memory; to create a visual reminder of gratitude while also serving as a festive decoration.

Set up a leftover station with containers: An easy way to send guests home with treats and keep your fridge organized after Thanksgiving.
