Trial date set for Brian Walshe in his wife’s murder

A trial date has been set for Brian Walshe, the Cohasset, Massachusetts, man accused of killing and dismembering his wife Ana. Brian Walshe, 48, was arrested on January 18, 2023 and indicted by a grand jury on the following charges: murder, misleading a police investigation/obstruction of justice and improper transfer of a human body. He is being held without bail. Judge Diana Freniere told attorneys she believed there was a way to speed up the trial of a case. “I think it is reasonable for a case like this to be heard within two years of the indictment. Currently.” I think the timeline you’re suggesting is closer to the three-year mark. And I think that’s a little unnecessary,” she said. The judge set the trial to begin on October 20, 2025. It’s been almost two years since Ana Walshe disappeared. Her body was never found. One of the delays was a dispute over what evidence the prosecution could share with Walshe’s lawyers. Walshe’s attorneys have asked the case’s lead investigator, Trooper Michael Proctor, for emails and text messages. Proctor was also the lead investigator in the Karen Read murder case and wrote abusive messages about her. Walshe’s lawyers want to see whether Proctor wrote similar messages about him. The judge did not rule on the matter Monday. The prosecutor said he expected Brian Walshe’s trial to last about four weeks.
