Trial for the murder of Bob Lee: The public prosecutor’s office makes closing arguments in the trial for the stabbing death of the Cash App founder

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) — Closing arguments began Monday in Bob Lee’s murder trial. Nima Momeni is accused of stabbing and killing Lee in the early hours of April 4, 2023. Momeni had previously testified that he acted in self-defense.

Prosecutors made their closing arguments, first playing Bob Lee’s 911 call for the jury, in which he repeatedly pleaded for help.

Prosecutors compared that call to Nima Momeni’s lack of calling 911 or the police, although he testified that it was Lee who attacked him with a knife after Momeni made a “bad joke” that questioned his priorities and no time with his family spent his last night in the city. The prosecution emphasized the judge’s instructions that for Momeni to be found guilty of first-degree murder, he must have acted with premeditation, premeditation and premeditation. Prosecutors claim Momeni did it. That before the murder he pretended to be friends with Lee, that he brought the knife from his sister’s apartment, took Lee to a secluded place and then quickly fled. Prosecutors said the motive was that Lee introduced Nima Momeni’s sister, Khazar, to Jeremy Boivin, a drug dealer who they said drugged and sexually abused her.

Prosecutors say Momeni carefully pieced together his self-defense story from the evidence and that his defense paid experts to testify who admitted on the witness stand that they devised possible scenarios for what led to Bob Lee’s three stab wounds, including two in the chest , could have happened one in his heart and one in his hip.

They also highlighted that after Lee’s murder, Momeni concealed evidence by throwing the knife over the Caltrans fence and driving his vehicle to his mother’s home. The jacket he wore that night was also never found. Lee’s brother spoke to reporters about the prosecution’s closing arguments.

“I think Dane did a great job of summarizing this case and really putting it in perspective, really laying out the facts of this case,” said Oliver Lee, Bob Lee’s brother.

The prosecution’s closing arguments lasted about three hours. The defense will make its closing arguments on Tuesday.
