Triple murder in Tiruppur: Special teams search for clues from multi-dimensional angles

Special teams formed to probe the death of an elderly couple and their son at Semalai Goundenpalayam village near Palladam in Tiruppur district on Friday are probing the case from multi-dimensional angles.

Deivasigamani (78), a farmer, his wife Alamelu (75) and son Senthilkumar (46), an IT professional in a private company in Saravanampatti in Coimbatore district, sustained head injuries by attackers.

Investigators began questioning Balamurugan, a farm laborer from Sayalkudi in Ramanathapuram district who was reportedly laid off from work in the last few months, and later got him fired.

Due to the lack of CCTV footage, progress was not possible due to the lack of cameras within a radius of around 2km.

Local historians were also interviewed. In addition, police are trying to determine whether the killings were triggered by previous hostilities.

According to reports, the attackers had taken away jewelry worth eight sovereigns that Alamelu was wearing and a high-end mobile phone belonging to Senthilkumar.

Meanwhile, a delegation of the Tamil Nadu Farmers’ Protection Movement submitted a petition to the Avinshipalayam police demanding issuance of arms license to farmers for self-protection, citing the earlier case of killing of four family members in Kallakinar village near Palladam appointed in September 2023.
