Trump says he doesn’t want shares to drop, “but sometimes you have to take medication”

Pres. Trump on the market desolation:

President Donald Trump said on Sunday evening that he does not intentionally develop the ongoing stock market sale, but not to try to dissuade him.

“I don’t want something to go under, but sometimes you have to take medication to repair something,” said Trump on a Sunday evening on board the Air Force when he was asked about the markets.

The comments came when the US stocks went back on Sunday evening, with Dow Jones Industrial Average Futures scored 4.1%, accelerating the losses that were worn from Thursday and Friday and point out that more sale will probably be reached on Monday morning.

He quoted the trade deficit with China as his reasons for the urging with his tariff plan despite the recent pain in the markets.

“We have to solve our trade deficit with China,” he said. “We have a trillion dollar trade deficit with China, hundreds of billions of dollars a year that we lose with China. If we don’t solve this problem, I won’t do any deal.”

“I am ready to deal with China,” he added, “but you have to solve your surplus.”

He added that over the weekend he spoke about the tariffs introduced by his government to European and Asian leaders who are expected to come into force in the coming week.

Trump’s comments are reminiscent of the Minister of Commerce Howard Lutnick, who said on Sunday that the administration will remain steadfast in its plans for mutual tariffs for large US trading partners, also in view of the global stock market sale. Kevin Hassett, Director of the Weißen Haus National Economic Council, said that the share of stock markets was not part of a deliberate strategy.

Trump and Team’s comments come after the President himself shared a link to a video on his social account in the truth, in which it was claimed that the president deliberately dropped the markets as part of his broader business plans.

The video, which originally appeared on Tiktok in March, was shared by Trump on April 4, two days after its announcement of the tariffs.
