Two NJ Powerball wins $50,000 while the jackpot reaches $214 million

Two New Jersey lottery players won $50,000 in Wednesday night’s Powerball, according to the state’s lottery announced Friday.

The tickets each included four white balls and the Powerball to win the third category prizes. The winning tickets were sold at:

Old Bridge Card Smart on Route 9, in Old Bridge (Middlesex County)
Archie’s Liquor on Main Avenue in Passaic (Passaic County)

The Powerball jackpot reaches $214 million

Because there is no jackpot winner, the Powerball jackpot will increase to an estimated $214 million, with a cash option of $101.3 million for Saturday’s drawing, according to the lottery website.

The jackpot was last won on Oct. 23, when a Georgia lottery player won a $478.2 million Powerball jackpot.

How do I play Powerball?

The cost is $2 per ticket, but you can add the Power Play for $1, which increases the amount of your potential win to five times the original prize (excluding Jackpot and Match 5). There is also a 10x Power Play opportunity if the jackpot is less than $150 million.

Each player chooses five numbers from 1 to 69 for the white balls and one number from 1 to 26 for the red Powerball. You can also have the lottery machine generate a quick voting slip with random numbers.
