Two people have died following a suspected murder-suicide Tuesday evening in Columbus’ East Side neighborhood.
Columbus Police patrol officers responded to the 1200 block of Carolwood Avenue at 9:46 p.m. and found a woman, Della Walker, 65, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and a male suspect, Daryl B. Walker, 75, appearing to be suffering from them, according to a news release from the CPD received a single gunshot wound at a residence.
Daryl B. Walker, the suspected shooter, died at the scene while paramedics rushed Della Walker to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 10:26 p.m
According to the news release, the deaths are being investigated as a murder-suicide.
According to court documents and other public records, Daryl Walker has a lengthy criminal history that includes arrests for forgery and burglary.
He pleaded guilty to an amended charge in June 1999 after being arrested in a domestic violence case involving Della Walker. He received a 60-day suspended sentence.
