Ty Lue announces Kawhi Leonard’s injury

After months of waiting, Clippers fans have something positive to look forward to when it comes to Kawhi Leonard’s health. Leonard hasn’t done any touch drills since April, but it looks like that’s finally coming to an end.

During today’s practice, Clippers head coach Ty Lue revealed that Leonard has finally practiced 5-on-5 with full contact with the team. Additionally, he will travel with the Clippers for the team’s road trip to Dallas. Unfortunately, he won’t be on the road trip yet.

“Well, he practiced 5-on-5 contact today. Nice to see him out there doing that,” Lue said. “It worked well. We just continue the process and make sure we check every box before we play again. He will travel, yes. He won’t be playing on this trip.”

“Just keep checking the boxes, making sure he’s done with the 5-on-5 fight with contact, making sure he doesn’t have any swelling, making sure he doesn’t have any setbacks, and “make sure he can accomplish a lot of the rehab that was done along the way,” Lue said.

For Clippers fans, this is the best news they could have heard about Leonard, other than him actually returning to the game. Based on Lue’s announcement, Leonard is close to an actual return and there is a possibility that return could occur on December 27th against the Golden State Warriors.
