Updated Seahawks playoff odds ahead of Week 13

The Seattle Seahawks are coming off a huge win over the Arizona Cardinals in Week 12. Mike Macdonald’s team heads into Sunday’s Week 13 showdown against the New York Jets after winning two straight NFC West division games against the Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers. Seattle’s postseason odds have changed drastically as a result.

According to ESPN’s analytics department, the Seahawks now have about a 29% chance of making the playoffs. ESPN’s prediction model gives Seattle about a 25% chance of winning the NFC West division title, which they currently lead in the tiebreaker. According to Brady Henderson, Seattle’s remaining schedule is the 10th toughest in the league.

Before Sunday’s win over the Cardinals, Seattle’s postseason odds were at 11%, according to The Athletic’s playoff model. After Macdonald’s second win in a row, the value more than doubled. Their chances of winning the NFC West were just 8 percent.

The Seahawks have four remaining away games (@NYJ, @ARZ, @CHI, @LAR) and just two home games (GB, MIN). The next two meetings in Seattle are coming up, including a rematch against the Cardinals. They will conclude their regular season with a road game against the Los Angeles Rams. Their home games are in Weeks 15 and 16 against consecutive NFC North opponents including Green Bay and Minnesota.

A win over the Jets on Sunday would further boost Seattle’s postseason chances.
