Utah transfer QB Sam Huard commits to USC

Former Utah quarterback Sam Huard will switch to play USC in 2025. It will be the fourth team of his career where he has also spent time Washington (2021-22) and Cal Poly (2023).

Huard didn’t play in any games for the Utes last season after undergoing surgery for an undisclosed injury. That allowed him to take a medical redshirt and he has two years of eligibility remaining with the Trojans.

The year before, Huard started nine games at Cal Poly, finishing with 2,247 passing yards and 18 touchdowns to 10 interceptions. He also played a total of five games in his two seasons in Washington.

As a recruit, Huard was a five-star prospect out of Kennedy Catholic High School in Bellevue, Washington, in the class of 2021. He was the No. 16 player overall and No. 3 quarterback in the cycle according to the On3 Industry Rankinga weighted average that takes into account all four major recruiting media companies.

According to the data, Huard is also the No. 1,641 player overall and the No. 127 quarterback in this transfer cycle On3 transfer portal player rankings. He will look to fulfill the potential at USC that many believed he had coming out of high school.
