Victims of Israeli terror find hope and support through innovative nonprofit organizations

An experienced nonprofit is helping Israeli terror victims find joy this holiday season. OneFamily, a unique charity founded in 2001 to help victims of terrorism in the Jewish state, donates iPads and stands to IDF soldiers wounded in the Israel-Hamas war.

“These people sacrificed their bodies to protect Israel, to save good from evil, and believed that protecting their country was more important than saving their private lives,” said Naomi Nussbaum, executive director of OneFamily. “And now they are in a terrible, broken state. With the iPad and the stand that they can place on a counter next to their bed, they can tell it to play a video or make a video call.”

Israel has “thousands of seriously injured soldiers,” explained Nussbaum, “and these are wounds that will remain forever.”

“In a few months they won’t be well, but they need to rethink their life plan.”

OneFamily provides emotional and financial support to Israeli victims and families of terrorism and helps them reintegrate into society. The organization offers survival benefits, PTSD therapy, support groups, and even a coordinator to provide individual support.

It was founded after the terrorist attack on a restaurant in Jerusalem in 2001, which killed 16 people and injured another 130.

OneFamily’s workload has quadrupled since the October 7, 2023 terrorist attack. Recently it helped Sigal Shemer, whose son was killed at the Nova Music Festival on October 7th. Shemer told FoxNews that terrorists “came into the country and killed, murdered, raped and burned many people, innocent people.”

“We have been taking care of the victims for 23 years,” said Nussbaum. “Our friendly and professional approach was in place long before the tragedies of October 7th and ensured rapid and effective assistance during the crisis. And our caring coordinators care for each victim throughout their life, and continuity over time is a key element of our work.”
