RIDGEWAY, Va. (AP) — A Virginia woman was arrested and charged with criminal solicitation to commit murder and conspiracy to commit a felony after she allegedly plotted to have someone killed, authorities said.
Gennevieve McGhee, 44, was taken into custody on November 27 following an investigation by the Henry County Sheriff’s Office. Officials said McGhee detailed her plans during a meeting with a confidential informant working under the direction of law enforcement.
The sheriff’s office said McGhee gave specific instructions about how to pay and how she planned to carry out the robbery and murder. The informant recorded their interaction on November 26 at McGhee’s home in Ridgeway and captured audio and video evidence.
Authorities have not released the identity of the alleged target or informant. While the investigation continues, McGhee remains held without bail at the Henry County Adult Detention Center.
The case has been referred to the Henry County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office for review.
