Vlogger murder in Bengaluru: Accused Aarav Hanoi arrested by Bengaluru police | Latest News India

Aarav Hanoi, the man accused of killing Assam vlogger Maya Gogoi, has been arrested by police in Bengaluru outside Karnataka, ANI reported quoting DCP East.

The 22-year-old defendant, who comes from Kerala, is said to have stabbed his girlfriend to death in a company apartment in the Indiranagar district of Bengal.

Police had said Hanoi stayed with the vlogger’s body for a whole day after killing her.

A murder case was registered in this connection and the police formed two special teams to hunt Hanoi. Officials said Gogoi and the suspect had been dating for six months and had spent two days at the official residence before the brutal murder.

CCTV footage showed Hanoi leaving the apartment in a panic at around 8:20 a.m. on Tuesday morning.

Police had earlier said that Gogoi’s murder was premeditated. They said Hanoi allegedly brought an old knife to the apartment and ordered a nylon cord online shortly after checking into the official apartment.

After killing the vlogger, Hanoi fled the scene, drove to Majestic Station and turned off his cell phone to avoid being tracked. Authorities believed that the accused might have fled to Kerala.

Two special teams led by Sudarshan, Inspector of Indiranagar Police Station, were working to trace Hanoi.

Maya Gogoi, who used to work in Koramangala, had sent a text message to her sister before the tragedy. The vlogger had mentioned that she would not be returning home due to a company party. “On Sunday she messaged again saying she was having a party and wouldn’t be coming home,” her sister added.

Meanwhile, police said that the post-mortem on Maya Gogoi’s body has been completed.
