Wanted man escapes after evading arrest near Tautphaus Park

IDAHO FALLS – A wanted man eluded law enforcement and is on the run after evading capture at a residence near Tautphaus Park Friday evening.

Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office deputies stopped at a home on Fieldstream Lane near Hartert Drive just before 6:30 p.m. to search for a person who had an outstanding arrest warrant

“As they approached, this individual ran away on foot,” said Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Bryan Lovell said. “…In the end, they didn’t catch the guy yet.”

A number of law enforcement officers from the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office, Idaho Falls Police Department and Idaho State Police assisted in the search.

“They set up a perimeter,” Lovell reported. “It’s a pretty big area with a canal and a neighborhood, so a lot of people were keeping an eye out in the area.”

No arrest was made.

“Officers checked the area looking for him and he was not arrested,” Lovell said.

At this time, the Sheriff’s Office is not releasing the name of the person who has an arrest warrant or the type of crime they committed.

The incident remains under investigation and officers continue to search for clues and respond.

However, Lovell assured: “I do not believe we have any threat or danger to the public at this time.”

The SWAT team was not involved in the response.

Anyone with information about the incident, criminal activity or wanted individuals is asked to contact police at (208) 529-1200 or report a tip anonymously online to East Idaho Crime Stoppers.
