Wanted man taken into custody after standoff in Ammon

The following is a press release and mugshot from the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office.

Bonneville County Sheriff’s deputies located Chad D. Finlayson at a residence in Ammon last evening after receiving a tip about his whereabouts. Finlayson, wanted on three probation violations, fled from officers in an Idaho Falls neighborhood last Friday evening, prompting a search of the area by multiple officers.

Officers responded to a residence on Silkwood Circle shortly after 7 p.m. and contacted the homeowner, who confirmed Finlayson was inside. After securing the area surrounding the residence, officers made several attempts to communicate with Finlayson and tell him he was under arrest and to come out, but he refused. As negotiations continued, members of the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team responded and officers obtained a search warrant for the residence.

Just before 10 p.m., Finlayson agreed to leave the apartment and was taken into custody without incident. There were no other residents in the apartment at the time and Finlayson was booked into the Bonneville County Jail on the three outstanding warrants. Finlayson’s probation violations stemmed from prior convictions related to evading law enforcement and drug offenses; additional charges are pending in connection with this incident and last Friday’s incident.

The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office thanks the public and residents affected by this incident for their patience and cooperation as they help ensure the safety of everyone involved. Suspects and criminal activity can be reported anonymously online at any time through East Idaho Crime Stoppers at www.IFcrime.org.
