Watch Stewart Copeland create a new foundation for a classic nu-metal anthem

Whether you’re a drummer or not, Drumeo’s YouTube channel, which features tutorials, masterclasses and guest appearances from some of the best musicians in the world, is worth a subscription. In one of the station’s most entertaining regular features, Drumeo Content Director Brandon Toews plays well-known rock songs to drummers who have never heard the songs in question before and encourages them to play along to the track. Nowhere else on the internet will you find David Lee Roth’s former drummer Greg Bisonette playing on System of a Down’s Toxicity, Megadeth’s Dirk Verbeuren creating new rhythm tracks for hits by The Killers and Paramore, or the brilliant drummer Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers reinterpretation of songs from Bring Me The Horizon and Thirty Seconds To Mars.

The latest episode of this highly entertaining series features The Police’s legendary drummer, Stewart Copeland. And the song he’s supposed to play along to since he’s never heard it before is Limp Bizkit’s Rollin’ (Air Assault Vehicle), a number one single for Fred Durst’s band in the UK and Ireland in January 2001.

“Lucky for you, I don’t know shit, I don’t know a song,” the 72-year-old Virginia-born drummer jokes at the start of the episode, but his inimitable talents soon come to the fore as he plays a completely new take on the song Beats originally recorded by John Otto.
