Watch Suki Waterhouse bring Jane Penny to cover TOPS in Montreal

Suki Waterhouse brought Jane Penny of TOPS with her to a recent gig in Montreal. Check out the footage below.

The moment occurred during Waterhouse’s show at the city’s MTELUS Performing Arts Center on Dec. 14.

Before welcoming the TOPS singer to the stage, Waterhouse called the Canadian indie rock band “the coolest band in Montreal” and their 2015 single “Anything” “one of my favorite songs.”

She continued: “Honestly, I have a huge crush on this whole band,” before officially introducing Penny to perform the track alongside her. The following evening, during her performance in Toronto, Waterhouse performed the song again, this time alone.

Sharing a clip of the performance on Instagram, Penny thanked Waterhouse and called her “an absolute gem of a human being and an absolute rockstar.” Check it out below.

Meanwhile, Waterhouse landed at number 7 on TikTok’s top ten UK artists of 2024.

This year she released her second album, Memoir Of A Sparklemuffin. In conversation with NME In September, the singer opened up about how writing the record while pregnant influenced the production. “The nice thing about making this record was that I had this very physical deadline – not just one where it’s like, ‘Then you should hand it in,’ but one very physical,” she told us.

“That was something I really got into with this project, and not being able to leave my living room for a few months was probably the best part of it.”

Over the summer, she played a support slot at Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour run at Wembley Stadium. After the show, she joked that her “nervous system will never be the same,” adding: “The last time I was at Wembley, I danced my ass off on the Reputation tour!” I never thought that The next time I was here, I would be opening for my favorite artist with my friends and family in the audience.”

Elsewhere, she covered Oasis’ “Don’t Look Back In Anger” during her performance at All Points East in August.
