Waterbury man convicted of Raheem Lynch’s 2021 murder outside Bridgeport club

On Nov. 26, a three-judge panel in Bridgeport convicted Jaquan Bryant, 35, of the 2021 murder of Raheem Lynch, 24, at the Mystique Gentleman’s Club.

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – A Waterbury man has been convicted of the 2021 murder of 24-year-old Raheem Lynch of Bridgeport outside a gentleman’s club in Bridgeport, according to a press release from the Connecticut Division of Criminal Justice on Monday.

DCJ reports that on November 26, a three-judge Superior Court panel convicted 35-year-old Waterbury resident Jaquan Bryant of Lynch’s murder.

The panel consisted of the Honorable Robin Pavia, the Honorable Eliot Prescott and the Honorable Peter McShane. The group deliberated for a day and unanimously found Bryant guilty of murder.

According to DCJ, Lynch was shot in the head in the early morning hours of November 6, 2021 while sitting in a friend’s car outside the Mystique Gentleman’s Club in Bridgeport. Police found video showing a vehicle registered to Bryant driving past Lynch’s location at the time the shooting was reported.

Using witness statements and videos from the club, investigators determined that Bryant got into an argument with someone else at the club shortly before the shooting. DCJ said Bryant was waiting for this person to leave the club.

As the person left the club, Bryant drove by and fired six shots in that person’s direction. Lynch was sitting in a nearby car and was struck in the head by one of the bullets.

“The Bridgeport Police Department’s thorough investigation made this verdict possible,” said Assistant District Attorney Kristin Chiriatti, who prosecuted the case for the state.

Prosecutor Joseph Corradino also praised the work of those who brought Bryant to justice.

“The impressive efforts of Ms. Chiriatti, Inspector John Andrews and Det. Keith Hanson brought this case to a successful conclusion and is another step forward toward ridding the community of senseless gun violence,” Corradino said.

When Bryant is sentenced in Bridgeport Superior Court on February 3, 2025, he faces 60 years in prison.
