WE HAVE FLIP: Alabama football flips LSU commitment on Early Signing Day 2025

@nickwalt

Even without Nick Saban, the Crimson Tide had another outstanding recruiting class. All 20 prospects they signed stood firm and stayed with the Tide without any drama. The real excitement was yet to come.

For those who don’t know, Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas, NV) is a high school football powerhouse. They went 12-1 this season and won their fourth straight state championship. Their only defeat was at the hands of another power, Mater Dei. BG’s recent graduates include Rome Odunze, Dorian Thompson-Robinson and Cedric Tillman.

Saban often recruited players from that school but never managed to snag one. Now coach Kalen DeBoer has accomplished something the GOAT never did, and that’s by signing WR Derek Meadows on Wednesday evening.

Signing ceremony by Bishop Gorman. Meadows is fourth from right.

Meadows committed to LSU back in July, but that didn’t discourage the Alabama staff. Maybe it was the Bayou Bengals’ poor season. Or maybe it was the Tide’s dismantling of the Tigers in their own stadium. Or maybe he saw how Brian Kelly treated his players. Whatever it was, Meadows saw the light and announced his transfer to Bama at his high school’s signing ceremony.

Meadows has a real size of 6’6″ 205, an incongruous nightmare for any DB. He is not a gimmick receiver. He has speed, athleticism and excellent body control. He also competes in BG’s track and field competitions and is in the 300 -m hurdles and the 110 m hurdles. He is also part of a 4×400 squad that won state victory.

We look forward to seeing numerous connections from Keelon Russell to Meadows in the near future.
