Week 47 Motor Show Report | 2024

iDriveSoCal community reporter Scot S. will deliver Week 47’s Car Show report. He’s at the Cruisin’ La Verne Holiday Car Show. And some cool shots and comments below. Enjoy!

On Saturday we spent a very pleasant day at the Cruisin’ La Verne Holiday Car Show. It was cloudy and pleasantly cool. The gathering spanned five or six blocks, centered on the Old Towne intersection. There was a lovely selection of cars and a real pre-Christmas atmosphere. We saw:

– ’69 Caddy nicely smoothed. The wheels and tires could have made this car a donk, but I like that it’s lowered.

– A gasser that looked real and contemporary

– A good interpretation of a common paint job for a 1965 Ranchero.

– A smooth 60 Caddy that my wife particularly liked.

– A ’62 Imperial with floating lights. Overheard someone speculating that it was a backwards ’59 Chevy.

– A ’41 Willys Pro Street that was visually much smaller than the same body elsewhere in the show. By a lot. But they are the same. We measured.

– A ’40 Mercury Eight that really looked like a Gatsby to me. I’m sure that’s anachronistic.

– In a row of vans sat Octopus’s Garden, a ’71 Dodge B200 straight out of the ’70s, complete with velor and shag.

– A 48 *Plymouth* Woody

– You may have noticed that I’m not a fan of V-Dubs, but I really liked this 1965 Type 34 (is that called Karman Ghia?).

PS: Right outside the show there was a single, abandoned Deuce Tudor who I swear I heard say, “One day I’ll be in there!”
