Alabama Football CFP Rankings Prediction

Alabama’s ranking on Tuesday night will be important in determining whether they potentially make it into the CFP, and I say they are the No. 11 overall prospect in the country. As for their ranking, I’d say Alabama is the last non-conference champion in the field at No. 11.

How many teams are participating in the 2024 College Football Playoff?

For the first time, 12 teams will take part in the College Football Playoff. There are five automatic bids for each of the Power Four Conference champions and one for the highest-ranked Group of Five champion. The remaining seven spots will be awarded to the seven overall teams.

How does the College Football Playoff format work?

The top four finishers receive a bye at the start of the CFP. The next four highest seeds will host playoff games on campus as follows:

  • No. 5 vs. No. 12, winner plays No. 4
  • No. 6 vs. No. 11, winner plays No. 3
  • No. 7 vs. No. 10, winner plays No. 2
  • No. 8 vs. No. 9, winner plays No. 1
