When a “servant” mistreated Meghan Markle during her wedding: Prince Harry became angry

A royal expert has suggested a disagreement over a wedding tiara sets a negative tone for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s relationship with the royal family. The issue reportedly arose during preparations for her 2018 wedding, which involved Queen Mary’s bandeau tiara.

Richard Eden, a royal commentator for the Daily Mail, shared insights on a recent episode of Reading the Royals. He mentioned that choosing Meghan’s tiara was a challenge and hinted at tensions between Meghan and Angela Kelly, the late Queen Elizabeth’s trusted jewelry advisor.

According to Eden, Harry later confirmed in his memoir Spare that there had been disagreements over the tiara arrangements.

“Harry felt Meghan wasn’t being treated the way she should. That, you know, everyone should have great respect for her and here was, you know, a servant, as he saw it, who was just quite difficult and a hindrance. And it was one of those things that really put a bad tone on the marriage and her relationship with the royal family,” Eden said.

Eden claimed Harry felt Angela Kelly was being uncooperative by rescheduling Meghan’s appointments to view the jewelry. Harry reportedly believed this showed Meghan was not treated with the respect she deserved. Eden explained that such incidents contributed to early tensions between the couple and the royal family.

The headdress chosen, Queen Mary’s Bandeau Tiara, is an exquisite piece worth around £2 million (almost). 21.5 crore), with diamonds and a detachable brooch.

Greville Emerald Kokoshnik Tiara

According to reports, Meghan originally wanted to wear the Greville Emerald Kokoshnik Tiara, but was reportedly rejected due to its unclear origins. Maxwell Stone of Steven Stone Jewelers later clarified that the tiara, which is believed to have ties to Russia, ended up in the royal collection through an uncertain route. Princess Eugenie later wore the same tiara at her wedding.

After their high-profile wedding, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped back from royal duties in 2020 and moved to Montecito, California, with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
