When Alabama football knows its rankings

Alabama football is preparing to soon learn its placement in the fourth College Football Playoff rankings for the 2024 season.

Alabama has had an up-and-down season with three road losses to Vanderbilt, Tennessee and Oklahoma. It has wins over LSU, Wisconsin, Georgia, South Carolina and Missouri, as well as two wins over Group 5 programs.

The fifth edition of the CFP rankings will be released on Tuesday at 6 p.m. on ESPN. These are the final in-season rankings prior to the final rankings next Sunday following the conference championships that host the College Football Playoff field and bowl games.

This is the first year of the 12-team College Football Playoff, with the top four conference champions receiving first-round byes. Another conference champion automatically receives a bid, while the rest of the field is selected as an overall bid by the CFP rankings.

Alabama Football CFP Rankings Prediction

The Crimson Tide are 8-2 this year after a win over Mercer and heading into a matchup with Oklahoma. Heading into games on November 23rd, they are in fifth place in the SEC.

They cracked the top ten last week and after an upset on Saturday they should stay in the top 10 and comfortably in the playoffs for now.

The College Football Playoff rankings show will be broadcast on ESPN. It can be streamed on FUBO TV (free trial) or on ESPN+.

How many teams are participating in the 2024 College Football Playoff?

In 2024, 12 teams will compete in the College Football Playoff, the first time there will be a dozen teams. The CFP has included four teams since its founding in 2014.
