When is the Champions League round of the 16th round? Date, time, bracket

The new UEFA Champions League is about to reach the 16 round. But when does the draw take place and when will the games be played?

This is how everything works.

When is the draw for the 16?

The round of the 16th draw will take place on February 21 at 6 a.m. ET / 11 a.m. GMT.

The exact date and the exact time of each draw will be announced later on Friday.

Which clubs are in the 16th round?

The clubs, which ended in the top night of the league phase, went straight through to the 16th round, together with the winners of the eight round ties of the eight Knockout Playoff (KO-PO) between clubs, the ninth to 24th place.

arsenal

Benfica (Ko-Po)
Borussia Dortmund (Ko-Po)
Club Brugge (Ko-Po)
Feyenoord Rotterdam (Ko-Po)
Internazionale
Lille
Liverpool
Paris Saint-Germain
(Ko-Po)
PSV Eindhoven (Ko-Po)
real Madrid (Ko-Po)

The clubs that took the 25th to 36th place were eliminated at the end of the league.

How does the round of the 16th round work?

The Knockout clip is largely determined by the final position of a club in the league. For example, Liverpool and Barcelona, who took first and second place, were only able to play in the 16th round on 15, 16, 17th or 18th (PSG, Benfica, Monaco or Brest).

Under this new format, the Draw Teams puts a position in the bracket to create a fixture, and not the traditional way to draw a team against another.

The teams who took part in the Knockout Playoff round were drawn in their position in the bracket last month.

In the round of the 16th tie, the top night teams go into one of two possible positions that automatically generate not only the game, but also the full bracket until the final.

The upper eight are in pairs: 1st and 2nd, 3rd and 4th, 5th and 6th, 7th and 8th, 3rd and 4th, 5th and 6th, 7th and 8 .. the couples are pulled to opposite places and cannot play each other until the final.

The draw begins with 7th and 8th, Lille and Villa and works in the other three couples in the order: Atlético and Leverkusen, Arsenal and Inter, then Liverpool and Barcelona.

For example, Liverpool and Barcelona now have two options in the draw: PSG and Benfica.

The first team pulled out of Liverpool and Barcelona is placed in the upper half of the bracket and thus plays PSG. This automatically means that the other club goes into the lower half against Benfica.

The Knockout clip will have been enforced until the final. There is no draw for the specific ties of the quarter -finals and the semi -finals.

How does the bracket develop?

The upper half of the Knockout Playoff Round Bracket looks stronger with Real Madrid and PSG.

Real Madrid is in the quarter -finals on a collision course with Arsenal or Inter Milan.

However, Real Madrid and PSG can only play in the final Bayern Munich because they are in opposite halves.

Juventus, who does not come past PSV, makes the upper half look a little less discouraging.

What are the possible round of the 16th ties?

Each of the exposed couples has two possible options in the draw:

Paris Saint-Germain or Benfica against Liverpool
Paris Saint-Germain or Benfica against Barcelona

PSV Eindhoven or Feyenoord Rotterdam against Arsenal
PSV Eindhoven or Feyenoord Rotterdam against international

Club Brugge or Borussia Dortmund against Lille
Club Brugge or Borussia Dortmund against Aston Villa

Real Madrid or Bayern Munich against Atlético Madrid
Real Madrid or Bayern Munich against Bayer Leverkusen

The teams that were finished in the top eight are sown and will be at home in the second leg.

So there is no land protection?

Correct. Clubs from the same country can play each other out of the Knockout playoff round. That is why PSG was able to play in the Knockout Playoff round Ligue 1 -Rival Brest.

What are the round of 16 seasons?

First legs: 4th to March 5th
Second leg: 11. To March 12th

Each club plays once on a Tuesday and once on a Wednesday.

What data are the other rounds?

Quarterfinals
First legs:
April 8th to April 9th
Second leg: 15th to April 16

Semifinals
First legs:
29.-30. April
Second leg: 6th to May 7th

FINAL
May 31, Allianz Arena, Munich

Who gets a lead in the quarter -finals and in the semi -finals?

There will be a draw immediately after February 16 on February 21st to determine who will play at home in the quarter -finals and in the semi -finals.

This does not happen at the sowing of the league phase, so that the final placements did not take over a team lead over the 16th round.

Can January play in the Champions League?

Yes, clubs were able to make three changes to their official squad.

If an association signed four players in January Transfer window, he could not register all of the KO -rounds of the European competition.

For example, City was signed four new players. They registered Omar Marmoush, Nico Gonzalez and Abdukodir Khusanov – which meant that vitor rice could not be added.

The total limit of 25 players remains. If a club wanted to add a new signing, he had to remove someone else.
