John Mark Karr is a former school teacher who claimed he killed JonBenét Ramsey.

For four years, from 2002 to 2006, John Mark Karr claimed to journalism professor Michael Tracey that he sexually abused JonBenét Ramsey before accidentally killing her.

Karr used the pseudonym Daxis when speaking to Tracey. This was JonBenét’s nickname for her grandmother, which was not reported anywhere, among other details that were not publicly known.

When Karr told Tracey that he was going to Ramsey’s house, Tracey contacted police and began recording phone conversations detailing the alleged abuse of JonBenét.

He claimed he accidentally choked JonBenét and thought she was brain dead before hitting her in the head with a flashlight.

Was John Mark Karr convicted of murdering JonBenét Ramsey?

No, John Mark Karr was not convicted of JonBenét’s murder and he was found not guilty.

After investigators tracked down Karr in Thailand, he was extradited to the United States, where he was arrested on suspicion of murdering the six-year-old.
