Early Game Gear Farming in POE 2
Despite all the action and mechanic-heavy additions Path of Exile 2Loot is still the name of the game. If you’re having trouble clearing content, getting better equipment is often the best solution, but it’s not necessarily easy to do, especially in the beginning.
Good equipment can get you through seemingly impossible fights, even if there aren’t enough weapon set points PoE2. However, preparing will be challenging, and if you’re having trouble progressing, here are some places to purchase better gear.

Early Game Gear Farming in POE 2
The best way to farm early game gear is Fight bosses repeatedly. It will be difficult to prepare for the first few acts. Drop rates are low for equipment, but especially for crafting materials like Orbs of Alchemy, Blacksmith’s Whetstones, and more, which is great if you want to prepare for them PoE2 Trading scene in the future. However, bosses have a better chance of dropping these items, and fortunately players can farm smaller items as often as they want.
How to reset instances and farm bosses
You can reset a map instance as follows:
- Interact with a waypoint.
- Select the area you want to reset, then press Ctrl+Left Click (hold down A or X on the controller).
- In the window that appears, select a new instance.
Resetting an instance rerolls the entire zone, updating enemy and chest spawns while also randomly adjusting the map’s layout. This also causes most (if not all) bosses to respawn, giving you a chance to get better gear.
Where to grow equipment early on
There are a few good locations in Acts I and II for players to farm equipment. If you encounter a wall to progression (e.g. a particularly difficult boss or a zone that is too high level), then your best bet is to farm both of these areas and bosses.
Act I – Draven (Praetor’s Mausoleum)
The Spirit of Praetor Draven is difficult at first, but once you memorize his moves he becomes very easy to defeat (and even more so if you’re over-geared). However, the main attraction at the Praetor’s Mausoleum isn’t actually Draven – It is the secret treasure horde within.
As you explore the mausoleum, you may come across the following Interesting sight “Forgotten Riches”. – it is a room with two coffins and a statue. To open the treasure horde, look for a switch on one of the pillars. Inside there are about 400 gold and chests that can contain good loot. If there is no switch, reset the instance and try again.
We only recommend this if you’re really struggling to progress through Act 1. You might have better luck getting money and loot by beating up monsters in the Count’s mansion instead.
Act II – Rudja, the Dread Engineer (Mawdun Mine)
In the second act of the main quest line you will find yourself in the Mawdun Mine. This place is great for two reasons: There is a chance of dropping the Miner enemies Blacksmith’s grindstones and weaponsmith’s remainsand the route to the area chief Rudja is often easy to reach.
Rudja can be a bit difficult to fight thanks to her single swinging melee attack that deals massive damage. However, she has a good chance of dropping yellow items as well as rare materials such as Exalted Orbs, Royal Orbs, and other valuable items PoE2 Currencies. Royal Orbs are used to upgrade items to the rare (yellow) level, while Exalted Orbs give rare items an additional random affix.
Act bosses like Geonor also reappear in new instances.
