Which has been canceled or delayed due to the devastating fires in Southern California

Starting on January 7, fierce fires in and around the LA area drove tens of thousands to flee the region and leave their homes behind. Accordingly, many television shows, award shows and related events have been postponed or canceled for now as first responders work to contain the deadly fires.

In addition to the postponements, actress Jean Smart on Wednesday appealed to the entertainment industry not to broadcast any of the awards shows this year and instead donate the money that would have been spent on them to the victims of those blazes.

“DANGER! With all due respect, I hope that during Hollywood’s holiday season, every network that broadcasts the upcoming awards shows seriously consider NOT televising them and donating the proceeds they would have generated to the fire victims and firefighters ” she wrote on Instagram.

While the 2025 Critics Choice Awards were scheduled to air on Sunday, January 12th, the ceremony hosted by Chelsea Handler has been postponed to January 26th and will take place at Barker Hangar.

“This unfolding tragedy is already having a profound impact on our community. All of our thoughts and prayers are with those battling the devastating fires and with everyone affected by them,” Joey Berlin, CEO of the Critics Choice Association, said in a statement.

“In light of the tragedies prevalent in Los Angeles,” AFI said in a statement, according to USA Today. “The community spirit we strive for will be unattainable on Friday.”
