Whitmer Shields is faced with folder during the Trump Oval Office meeting

The governor of Michigan, Gretchen Whitmer, a potential democratic presidential candidate from 2028, remained online because he seemed to hide her face during a meeting with President Donald Trump in the Oval Office.

According to a photo of the New York Times, Whitmer was temporarily shielded from cameras in the Oval Office by holding up a folder.

Later she lowered the folder when the president spoke to the press and also encouraged Whitmer to comment. The democratic governor, who collided with Trump with regard to her Covid 19 blocking policy during his first term, met with the president to discuss the recovery of an ice storm that had a thousands of Michiganders, and financed the Selfridge Air National Guard Base near Detroit, the protection of the Great Lakes and the automotive industry.

Whitmer, who was summarized by Michigan State House Speaker Matt Hall and several cabinet secretaries, stood from Trump, while he signed the executive’s application on Wednesday.

“We honored it to have Gretchen Whitmer from Michigan, Great State of Michigan. And she was – she did an excellent job. And a very good person,” said Trump.

Whitmer told reporters that she thought she would come to the oval office to meet a one-on-one interview with the president and was surprised by the press conference.

The Governor’s revolt against Trump’s “Liberation Day” tariffs

Some users joked that Whitmer was “embarrassing” to take pictures with Trump, but it did not shamm in a social media post from 2024 to put a Dorito in the mouth of a podcaster in which critics mocked a Christian sacrament.

The photo showed that Whitmer hid her face, while she stood between Trump Aide Natalie Harpe and deputy assistant of the President and Director of the White House of the Office of the Interior Affairs.

Myer divided the photo on X and wrote: “#Newprofilepic.”

Whitmer was in Washington to keep a “Build, America “ade in which she called for cross-party cooperation to strengthen American production. She was less than a month for her second meeting with Trump in the White House, this time to talk about tariffs, which was expected to affect Michigan disproportionately, whose economy is closely associated with an auto industry that is dependent on trade in Canada, Mexico and other countries.

Whitmer’s approach is in strong contrast to the other top -class democratic governors, many of whom are also regarded as potential candidates for the nomination of the President of 2028 of the party. But Whitmer looks like a more demanding political landscape as managers such as Illinois governor JB Pritzker or Gavin Newsom in California when she represents a state with shared state legislation and that for Trump went in two of the last three elections.
