Who could Texas A&M face in their bowl game? SI points to Big 10 team

Every football team experiences a series of ups and downs over the course of a season, and nothing could better explain the 2024 season for the Texas A&M Aggies.

What started with a home loss to Notre Dame led to the Aggies being considered favorites to win the SEC Championship at one point, which then led to a late-season collapse that resulted in A&M’s playoff hopes quickly disappeared.

In terms of record, however, the season was a success as the Aggies finished 8-4, 5-3 in the SEC and were bowl game-bound.

Who are they facing? Well, we don’t know that yet and we won’t know for a few days, so let your imagination run wild.

According to Sports Illustrated predictions earlier this week, the Texas A&M Aggies would travel to Nashville, Tennessee to take part in the Music City Bowl against the Iowa Hawkeyes.

If this becomes a reality, this wouldn’t be the Aggies’ first trip to Nashville. In 2015, they fell 27-21 in the Music City Bowl to the Louisville Cardinals, led by future A&M offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino and current NFL MVP Lamar Jackson, the season before he won his Heisman Trophy.

The Hawkeyes also finished the regular season 8-4, with a record of 6-3 against Big 10 opponents. Iowa started the season ranked No. 25 in the AP poll and rose to No. 21 after defeating Illinois State. However, a loss to their rival Iowa State Cyclones saw them fall out of the top 25 and never experienced that again for the rest of the season.

As I said, nothing is set in stone, but this is a possibility.

And if there’s anyone who would love to play in Nashville, it’s Marcel Reed.
