Who is behind the mysterious sightings in New Jersey? – NBC New York

In recent weeks, residents of a New Jersey county have heard the sounds of unwanted eyes in the sky.

The mystery of who is sending drones into Morris County’s skies every night has caught more than just the attention of its residents – now the FBI is investigating. Neighbors say the drones are appearing more often and many are eager to know exactly where they are coming from.

Those who have observed the prying eyes in the sky say the drones keep appearing late at night. Mike Walsh first spotted her in mid-November – now he sees her all the time.

“We saw her every night except Thanksgiving. I guess they took the evening off,” Walsh said Monday.

He said it was the first time he heard what sounded like a helicopter in his house. When he stepped outside, he knew it was something different. He contacted police but hasn’t received many responses.

“I would really like to see one land and report it, but they have been active for a long time. I don’t know where they start, where they end up,” Walsh added.

The sightings exploded on social media, with some expressing doubts and others sharing their concerns.

“People think they were UFOs or that they were being spied on,” said Erica Campbell.

“I really didn’t hear much other than that they flew over Dover,” Alexis Calle said. “What were they looking for?”

Days ago, local police authorities, along with district attorneys, issued a joint statement:

“There is no known threat to public safety. This joint statement is issued in response to rumors about the spread of drone activity on social media. We encourage the public to be aware that what they read online may not be accurate.”

On Monday it was announced that the FBI was also investigating the drones.

“It flew right over this church and continued past the train station. It had three flashing lights,” Christian Velasquez remembers.

“It’s strange. Several are spotted at once throughout Morris County. “It’s definitely concerning,” he said.

Police say they are continuing to monitor the situation.
