Why the cliffhanger from the first season of “Goosebumps” won’t be resolved in the new anthology season, explained by the creator and showrunner

Rob Letterman: It’s a way of thinking and it’s sort of our justification for why it works. I think that’s ultimately how the books end, a big door opens and a big twist, and that’s what we love about the material. It just never lets up. The characters are flawed, there is no nice little arc with a happy ending and a moral at the end. God forbid RL Stine would never allow that, so we went with it and the books were an anthology series. It was just a really interesting idea to do anthology seasons with the Goosebumps world.

Hilary Winston: And our characters don’t always make the right decisions. Margot brings Isaiah back to life with the magic they’ve been fighting all season. People don’t always do the right thing.

The main focus of the season seems to be that both Schwimmer’s Anthony and McCarthy’s Devin are haunted by a malevolent force, and while it’s unclear what nature or motivation is behind it, it seems like the way Season 1 ended The disappearance could lead one of the two to sacrifice themselves, or there could still be something evil lurking beneath the surface.

I can understand the desire to stay true to the books and go in an independent direction Goosebumps: The DisappearanceI can’t deny that I would have liked to see the cliffhanger of the first season expanded in the new season. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean we won’t find out what Kanduu is up to one day. Many of Stine’s books received sequels that, even if they didn’t directly expand on the events of the previous book, at least continued those stories, especially Slappy the Dummy, and considering how important he was in Season 1, this isn’t out of the question.
