Fan favorite William Lipton will return to Port Charles for the holidays and reprise the role of Elizabeth Baldwin’s firstborn, Cameron Webber. His return begins on December 18th. TV Insider was the first to announce the news.

‘Tis the season

In 2018, Lipton first joined the cast as Liz’s high school-aged son, who struck up a romance with Josslyn and developed a close friendship with Trina. In 2023, after Josslyn cheated on Cameron with the recently deceased Dex, the character left town to attend Stanford University on a football scholarship, but earlier that year he came to visit (in the form of Lipton) to attend the memorial service Cassadine takes part for Spencer, who was believed to be dead.

The actor told TV Insider that his return had been in the works for several months and began with a text message from the show’s executive producer Frank Valentini and casting director Mark Teschner inquiring about his availability. “Of course I was overjoyed to get the news,” Lipton gushed.

For Lipton, the best part of returning to GH was reconnecting with the cast the Daytime Emmy nominee had become familiar with over his years on the show. “It was so great to see so many incredible actors and longtime friends,” he noted. “I got to see Eden (McCoy, Josslyn) and we had a great exchange about each other’s lives and everything that happened.” He also chatted with his on-screen mother, Rebecca Herbst, and said : “I could see Becky (and) it was just really sweet to get a really big, warm hug from Becky.”

Cameron will also meet people who were important to his life in Port Charles. Lipton teased, “He’ll explore the city a little, maybe meet a few people he knew during his time in Port Charles, but at the end of the day (the goal of his visit) is just for him to celebrate.” Love he feels for his family and the love he feels from his family.”

2024 was a banner year for Lipton’s acting career; In February, it was announced that he would be headlining a new series for Amazon called “ The runarounds. The series received an eight-episode straight-to-series order and was filmed in Wilmington, North Carolina, where it will also be set. Lipton described the project as “a dream come true” as it showcases not only his acting skills but also his considerable musical abilities. “I have already experienced some of these combinations General Hospitalbut this show is all about the formation of a band and it was the best,” he shared. But even though his star is on the rise, his loyalty to GH remains unchanged. “I really enjoyed my experience there and the fact that I got to continue it, even for just a short performance, warms my heart so much,” he smiled.
