WJC Flyers’ Prospects Updates – FLYERS NITTY GRITTY

Before the WJC tournament began, there were supposed to be five Flyers prospects in this particular tournament. Unfortunately, Jack Berglund broke his hand during pre-season for Sweden, so he’s obviously ruled out for the tournament.

This is a great tournament to highlight prospects and future draftees. There’s a lot of crazy stuff going on, but that’s part of the fun of this tournament, especially this time of year.

Oliver Bonk played well. Bonk made the right plays both at even strength and with the man advantage. He has one goal and one assist in three games played and has a +3.

Bonk broke up some plays and had some good performances on defense. Canada plays Team USA tonight at 8pm EST.

Jett Luchanko shone with a wonderful shorthanded record a few games ago against Latvia. However, he didn’t have a single shot in the eventual penalty shootout loss to Latvia, which was quite surprising. It’s also a credit to his efforts as he continues to play well on both ends of the ice. There’s a reason he was coveted by the Flyers, and it starts with his play with the puck. Luchanko is very difficult to move off the puck, and he also makes good attacks.

Flyers goalie prospect Carson Bjarnason was relegated to the third goalie position for Team Canada and is therefore not mentioned.

Heikki Ruohonen is yet to score for Finland. Hopefully he does today at 2:30 pm EST.
