Woman charged with attempted murder after shots were fired

An altercation on Thanksgiving Day led to attempted murder charges being filed against an Andrews area woman.
According to an incident report from the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Department, officers were dispatched to 175 Kent Road late Thursday morning after receiving a call about shots fired while the alleged suspect was still at the scene.
When officers arrived, they used their public address system to ask the suspect – 20-year-old Elane Bone – to leave the house. However, she was not in the house. The alleged victim told officers that Bone was last seen on Kent Road.
It was believed she went to the beverage depot, the report said. Officers checked the store and no bones were found.
Officers met with the victim. He said he went to 175 Kent Road to speak to Bone about a property line issue since he and his wife own the property.
He said Bone “started to get angry” and said she was going to talk to his wife, the report continued.
The man said he tried to continue talking to Bone and she punched him in the face. He said he then got into his truck and tried to leave when Bone “started screaming that she was going to kill him,” the report said.

“As he drove off, he heard several gunshots, turned around and clearly saw the perpetrator apparently pointing a black firearm at himself,” the report continued.
The man said she began following his truck as it drove on Kent Road toward Saints Delight Road.
He told officers he would not report the incident, but changed his mind when Bone allegedly called his wife and told her she was going to kill him.
A witness told officers he heard Bone tell the man, “I’m going to kill you,” and he heard six gunshots. Another witness said he was outside tending to his chickens when he heard gunshots. He said he saw Bone with the gun in one hand and a fist in the air in the other.
Later that day, officers learned that Bone was traveling on Indian Hut Road and wanted to turn himself in, the report continued. Officers found her and she was arrested.
In prison, Bone reportedly said she threw the gun into the Sampit River out of fear. In addition to the attempted murder charge, she was also charged with intentionally destroying physical evidence, the report said.
At the time of this publication, Bone was in the Georgetown County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
