Woman grabs keys and steals car from tax office in Montgomery County

Picture this: You finish a long day at work, then realize your car – and its keys – are gone. Officials say that’s exactly what happened to an employee at a tax agency in Montgomery County on Monday.

The theft continues

At around 6 p.m., after meeting with a customer, the employee discovered that his keys, which were on a desk, had disappeared along with the car. The victim had a tracking device on the vehicle and immediately called the police.

Suspect caught red-handed

Deputies with Montgomery County’s PCt. 4 Constable’s Office located the car near FM 1485 and Baptist Encampment Road. When they arrived, they found the driver: 32-year-old Amber Carter of New Caney.

Carter, no stranger to trouble, was immediately arrested. Authorities believe she has a history of theft and drug-related activities.
