Woman killed in hit-and-run while crossing street in Oakland; Suspected Driver, Vehicle Found – WPXI

PITTSBURGH – UPDATE 2:02 p.m.: Police said the driver suspected of the hit-and-run has been located and is cooperating fully.

Pittsburgh police continue to investigate.

UPDATE 11:48 a.m.: Pittsburgh police said the vehicle involved, a white 2019 Freightliner box truck, was located.

The police are still looking for the driver.

Pittsburgh police are investigating after a woman was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Oakland on Wednesday morning.

Just before 5:45 a.m., officers were called to the intersection of Terrace Street and Darragh Street on the University of Pittsburgh campus to find someone on the street.

When they arrived on scene, officers found a 37-year-old woman who had apparently been struck by a vehicle.

She was taken to UPMC Presbyterian in serious condition, where she was pronounced dead at 6:35 a.m

An initial investigation revealed the victim was crossing Darragh Street in a zebra crossing at the time of the accident.

Police said they are currently reviewing camera footage to identify the vehicle involved.

The victim’s identity has not yet been released.
