Wray & Neffe hails growing effects of JPL on the national program | sport

Kingston: Wray & Neffe, title sponsor of the Jamaica Premier League (JPL), is satisfied with the growing effects that the league has on the National Football program.

Ten players were appointed from the JPL to join the latest squad that was selected by head coach Steve McLaren when Jamaica is looking for the Concacaf Gold Cup. Wray & nephew believes that improving the quality of local players is proof of the hard work that everyone involved is to increase the standard of the local game.

“We are enthusiastic about the number of local players who were recorded in the current Reggae Boyz squad for the Gold Cup qualifiers. Football has always been a platform that plays through authenticity, raw talent and discipline from local and national team.

He continued: “As the greatest sponsor of football in Jamaica, our focus was always on expanding the opportunities of opportunities for young Jamaicans, realizing their dreams through sport and at the same time promoting the national pride. We are motivated to continue our support for football that goes beyond the Premier League.”

The Gold Cup is the Premier Cup competition in Concacaf.

Jamaica will compete against St. Vincent and the Grenadines in two games during the FIFA window, with the first last evening on Tuesday, March 25th, at home in Sabina Park.

Goalkeeper Shaquan Davis of League Leaders Mount Pleasant Fa, Defenders Richard King and Christopher ainworth Cavalier FC, Kyle Ming and Fitzroy Cummings of Mount Pleasant, Midfielders, Jahhaun Anlin and Sue-Lae McCalla of Mount Pleasant, Tyreek Magee of VERE-Phoenix United, Demario Phillips of Montego Bay United and Warner Brown of Arnett Gardens are the JPL players in the 24-man squad.

Paul Christie, sports director at Mount Pleasant FA, believes that his club is confirmed for her targeted direction with the number of players selected for the current Reggae Boyz squad.

“It is gratifying for the property and the technical employee of Mount Pleasant Football Academy that our work has been recognized by the head of the JFF technical staff in the past few months. Therefore we would have had five views for the national team and we are still trying to work harder.

“It is not only a confirmation of the possession of the Mount Pleasant, but also a confirmation of the JPL that in an official game we have this number of players to represent the Jamaica brand. Therefore, it is good for both the club and the product in the future. We must continue to support the product as part of Brand Jamaica.”

Owen Hill, CEO of professional football Jamaica Limited (Pfjl), could not contain his excitement because they continue to achieve their goals when improving the league.

“We are happy about the number of local players who are either in the Jamaica National Setup or in other Caribbean national teams. There are volumes for the work that is put into the Premier League. The JPL is actually the number one of the Caribbean, and it is obvious that the talent comes through.

“We are clear. We have some long-term, medium and short-term goals that we have to hit, and this is one of them to make sure that we have a strong cohort of local talents, and because we went into an extended league, the players in the national team are easier every week.

The winners of the two-legged tie between Jamaica and St. Vincent and the Grenadines will enter the draw for the next round of the Gold Cup qualification.
