Wrexham receives a huge 14 million GBP when Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mcelhenney £ 1 share sell

Wrexham has received a massive financial thrust because they are striving for promotion again this season.

The club has had a meteoric climb since Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mcelhenney’s takeover in 2020.

After two advertising campaigns, WREXHAM enjoy their first season in League 1 for 19 years.

With 12 remaining games, Phil Parkinson’s team takes third place in the table.

The Red Dragons have now received a new thrust on the field with the news of an investment of 14.3 million GBP.

Details of the investment were unveiled by Companies House, with recordings showing the sale of a single share for 14,297,724.82 GBP.

However, the individual share is only worth £ 1 and surprises some fans on social media.

A supporter reacted to the investment and wrote: “Please tell me how legal this is.”

Another sarcastic: “fairy tale history.”

In the meantime, a third fan asked: “How is that allowed at all?”

The news follows that Wrexham has received the building permit for a new KOP stand of 5,500 capacities at the racetrack.

However, it was not confirmed whether the thrust of £ 14.3 million is for the new stand.

Wrexham has been playing on the race track area since its foundation in 1864, whereby the stadium currently contains 13,341 fans.

The Allyn family from New York also became minority shareholders in the club in October after selling their medical device company for over 2 billion US dollars (1.55 billion GBP) in 2015.

Kieran Maguire, expert in football financing, believes that the Allyn family is the most likely source of financing.

“It looks like good news and it’s a new investment,” said Maguire, how the Daily Mirror quotes.

“Probably it is used for the infrastructure so that the association is expanded what you have to do to give people the opportunity to watch them.

“The reason why it is a share for £ 14 million in contrast to £ 14 million for each pound is that it does not bother shares as such. If you had 30 percent before, you still have 30 percent.

“I suspect it is the family of Ally because it is not really what Reynolds and Mcelhenney bring to the party.

“You bring Stardust with you and that works very well, but it would make more sense from a financial background if it comes from the other investors.”

Reynolds and Mcelhenney have been watching a third campaign since their takeover this season.

It would cause the club to reach the second stage for the first time in 43 years.

After the 1-0 victory in Huddersfield on Tuesday, Wrexham sets two points behind the promotional rival Wycombe.

A victory at home in Rotherham on Saturday could lead to the two top two when the chairpersons in Peterborough lose united.
