Let’s face it, the best part of the Christmas period has to be the football – and Wrexham is a real part of it again this year.
As 2024 draws to a close and many will eat as much as they can and drink to their heart’s content, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s Welsh warriors will be hard at work.
There is still a lot of work to be done this year following Wrexham’s 1-1 draw with Bristol. The Red Dragons sit third in League One – but depending on results they could be top of the table at the start of the new year.
The question arises: Which fixtures are coming up? Here’s who Phil Parkinson’s side will be up against this Christmas season.
Wrexham vs Blackpool: Thursday December 26th, 3pm

- Competition: League One
- Current league position: 12
- Result prediction: Wrexham 3 – 1 Blackpool
Boxing Day Football is always a fantastic spectacle and this year Blackpool are Wrexham’s opponents.
The Tangerines have had a really turbulent season so far and are in 12th place in the table. However, Steve Bruce’s team were able to play exciting football.
Still, we can see Wrexham giving the fans a late win at Stok Racecourse on the 26th.
Wrexham v Wigan Athletic: Sunday 29 December 2024, 3pm

- Competition: League One
- Current league position: 17
- Result prediction: Wrexham 3 – 0 Wigan Athletic
Just three days later, Wrexham are back home and Wigan Athletic awaits them.
The Latics currently sit 17th in the league at the time of writing, with relegation a real possibility. For this reason we expect nothing less than a win from Wrexham.
Barnsley vs Wrexham: Wednesday 1 January 2025, 3pm

- Competition: League One
- Current league position: 8
- Result prediction: Barnsley 1 – 1 Wrexham
Happy New Year! I hope the boys had a quiet affair as they face an extremely tough test in Barnsley.
The Red Dragons managed just a one-goal win at home to Barnsley in early December, thanks to a last-minute strike from Oliver Rathbone. So we assume that the away game will be even more difficult.
The question arises: can Wrexham start 2025 with a bang?
Wrexham vs Peterborough: Saturday 4 January 2025, 3pm

The final game of the “festive season” takes us to January 4th, when the Parkinson team will take on Peterborough.
Posh was in poor shape towards the end of 2024, but her fortunes may have turned in the run-up to 2025.
One thing is certain: Peterborough are scoring goals, so it won’t be the easiest test in the world to end the festive season.
- Competition: League One
- Current league position: 16
- Result prediction: Wrexham 4 – 2 Peterborough
