WWE is reportedly eyeing Nebraska track star Meghan Walker for WWE NXT

In what could prove to be a game-changing move, WWE’s developmental brand, WWE NXT, is said to be considering University of Nebraska track and field standout Meghan Walker as its newest talent.

The Nebraska track and field star was spotted at WWE headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut this week as part of WWE’s Next In Line

™

Program that helps transition college athletes into professional wrestling through the groundbreaking Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) initiative.

Walker was not alone, as several other elite college athletes also joined in, Grace Stephens, Momen Zahid, Adam Berghorst and Skyla Schulte. The visit highlights WWE’s focus on recruiting talent from diverse sporting backgrounds as the Next In Line.

The program continues to seek top athletes.

To fuel speculation, Walker took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a selfie in WWE-branded gear with the caption, “Any WWE fans?” The post went viral in less than a day, racking up over 180,000 views and causing fans to get excited about her likely move into the squared circle.

Meghan Walker’s successes in athletics

Walker has built an impressive resume during her time as a Husker, demonstrating her speed and versatility in both indoor and outdoor events:

  • Indoor season 2024: She contributed to top relay finishes at the Big Ten Championships, including an eighth-place finish in the distance medley and 4x400m relays. In the individual event, she placed 14th in the 400 m with a time of 55.04 and ran a personal best in the 200 m at the Nebraska Tune-Up with 25.05.

  • Outdoor season 2024: Walker continued her strong performances, placing 13th in the 400m at the Big Ten Championships and helping set a school record in the sprint medley relay at the Drake Relays. She also contributed to several top relay finishes at prestigious events such as the Florida Relays and the Jim Click Shootout.

  • Highlights 2023: As a member of the 4x400m relay team, Walker competed in the Big Ten indoor championships and excelled in outdoor competitions. He placed second in the 400m at KSU Ward Haylett and contributed to a winning 4x100m relay race.

From the race track to the WWE ring?

Walker’s transition from track and field to a possible wrestling career isn’t far-fetched. WWE’s NIL program has already been successful in recruiting college athletes and helping them make the jump into professional wrestling. With her athleticism, competitive spirit and growing popularity online, Walker could become a huge star in the WWE Universe.
