You can still donate to Holiday Giving Boxes.

BINGHAMTON (WBNG) – Holiday Giving Box partners released a final appeal for donations Monday.

The Holiday Giving Box program aims to provide meals to local families. Partners include Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Broome County, CHOW, Broome-Tioga BOCES School Nutrition Services, The Leadership Alliance and Broome County Executive Jason Garnar.

Fundraising for the program ends December 19th.

The program provides for the provision of 425 boxes. 35 of these boxes will be distributed to local veterans using funds from the Broome County Veterans Project.

Rep. Lupardo’s office said a $50 donation can provide a meal to a family, but any donation will be accepted.

The boxes contain the following items from CHOW.

  • turkey
  • filling
  • corn
  • Cranberry sauce
  • sparkling wine

Dessert is sourced from local bakeries. Produce, including potatoes, carrots, onions, squash and apples, are purchased from local farmers and placed in the boxes.

The partners will meet the week of December 16th to assemble and distribute the boxes.

Holiday gift box information is available at the Broome County Regional Farmers Market during market hours.
