New Jersey’s Best Bakeries: Your Best List for Holiday Treats

Meanwhile, Christmas time is a time to enjoy lots of delicious food. We can worry about having to go to the gym on January 2nd. It started with the candy at Halloween and then moved on to the turkey, stuffing, and pumpkin pie at Thanksgiving. Now it’s Christmas time and with it comes Christmas cookies, cakes, pastries and tarts.

Christmas cookies are a favorite for me. Whether it’s a classic sugar cookie or a gingerbread man, Christmas cookies are a delicious part of the holiday season. I’m currently leaning towards gingerbread cookies. If you have a bakery here in New Jersey that you think makes the best gingerbread cookies, please let me know so I can pay them a visit. I’m not sure why, but this Christmas I’m loving gingerbread.

Another Christmas dessert that I really like in small portions is the infamous fruit cake. I know that fruit cake is the crux of many holiday jokes, but I enjoy it from time to time. I’ll even toast it and add some butter. Fruit cake reminds me of carrot cake with a few extras (dried fruits and nuts). If you’ve avoided fruitcake because of its reputation, try a slice this Christmas, you might like it.

A recent NJ.com article listed some fantastic bakeries for the holidays. In fact, they have listed 71 of the BEST bakeries to visit here in New Jersey for the holiday season. “The bakeries are spread all over the state and are not organized; they are listed alphabetically by city. It’s not just one neighborhood bakery after another. There are cake and pie shops, patisseries and bakeries, vegan bakeries, ethnic bakeries, long-established and newly opened businesses and more, all evidence of the state’s unparalleled culinary diversity.”
