YouTube viewers report hours

It looks like YouTube’s war against advertising blockers had taken a new turn.

In the past few weeks, several users have reported that they have seen unkipable ads that stretch for hours – some are supposedly longer than the videos they wanted to watch.

Screenshots of Reddit Suggest the display duration of 58 minutes and almost three hours, without visible Skip button. A user claimed that they were made with a two-hour, 52-minute display before a 49-minute video. Of course, this has led to speculation that YouTube could test more aggressive tactics to bring the users towards YouTube Premium.

However, Google denies such a step. A YouTube spokesman indicated that the platform has not served any skippable ads for a minute and instead indicates that advertising blockers may cause a “suboptimal experience experience”. The theory is that ad blockers could impair the YouTube user interface and may hide the SKIP button while it does not block the ad itself. Some users also found that updating the page or deactivation of their advertising block has resolved the problem.

At the end of last year, YouTube began to crack ADS blockers. It started with warnings before the reproduction for some users deactivated with activated ad blocking extensions. Now it seems that those who do not know YouTube or the premium in a continued struggle between ad blocking tools and YouTube are facing new roadblocks.

Nevertheless, not everyone who experiences these extended ad seems to use an ad blocker. A survey of Android authority It found that over 30% of the respondents stated that it has raised questions about for more than two minutes, which has raised questions about whether there is anything else in the game. The official policy of YouTube says that not skipable ads are limited on television for 15 seconds on mobile devices and 60 seconds. The reason for these unusually long ads remains unclear.

Regardless of whether this is an error, an unintentional side effect of the adoption of YouTube or something completely different, it is clear that freelance users feel the squeeze. For those affected, the selection remains the same: Sit through the ads, pay themselves to skip them, or go to an alternative app like TikTok or fog.
