Zach Edey’s injury status for Memphis Grizzlies vs. Brooklyn Nets

The Memphis Grizzlies face the Brooklyn Nets in a game where Memphis should have a clear advantage tonight.

The Grizzlies are currently on a three-game winning streak and have a legitimate chance to finish the night as second place in the Western Conference. The team has become increasingly healthy, but is still missing a key player.

Zach Edey was listed as doubtful on the injury report with a left ankle sprain. While it’s doubtful, it’s still an improvement compared to how many times he was listed as out. Edey has not played for the Memphis Grizzlies since November 17 against the Denver Nuggets, where he had 7 points and 7 rebounds in 14 minutes.

Earlier this week, Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins gave a promising update on Edey.

“I think he’ll do some more contact over the next few days, maybe a playgroup on Friday, and then we’ll do an evaluation toward the end of the week,” Jenkins said.

In 14 games this season, Edey averaged 11.1 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.0 blocks on 61/60/67 shooting from the field. While none of Edey’s numbers stand out, he is a legitimate floor-spacing offensive player and a shot-blocker on defense for the Grizzlies. It speaks volumes about how strong the Grizzlies are that they were able to perform so well despite missing one of their most important players in the starting lineup.

The Memphis Grizzlies face the Brooklyn Nets tonight at 8:00 PM EST.
