Zooey Deschanel shares her slow vacation morning routine

Zooey DeschanelMost popular projects range from her recent role in the 2024 film adaptation Harold and the purple crayon, Years as a star of the sitcom New girls (which, by the way, earned her a few Primetime Emmy nods) and – maybe it’s the Christmas spirit – but our favorite and most iconic character will always be Deschanel as Jovie Eleven. We caught up with the actress to unpack her mornings, which she says relies on consistency to make the most of her busy schedule.

Most days it starts at 5am

“I have small children and I like to get up and do a few things before they wake up. That’s why I usually wake up early – around four or five in the morning. I love to give myself some time before I take this.” In this time frame I would definitely have a coffee, catch up on the news, send a few emails or write in my diary what I do every day – I always have something like that with different creative projects I work on, like music and sewing, so I I’m always working early in the morning to get things done.

She then trains with a trainer

“I work out with a trainer a few times a week and on days when I’m not with my trainer I get at least 10,000 steps a day to stay active. I use a Garmin watch ($300) to track my steps.” I do these morning times pretty consistently because So A lot of different things happen throughout the day, so I like to have a consistent morning routine.”

Then she gets dressed

“Once the kids go to school and I’ve trained and taken care of my personal stuff, it’s time to get dressed. When it comes to that personal style, I Really like the fall and winter seasons. I love feeling cozy in sleeves and sweaters In long pants, long sleeves and tights. Summer is hard for me because I don’t like wearing beach clothes, so this is definitely my season. I have everyday items that I like to need when I go out or do something particularly I’ll try something different.

I love Vera Bradley for this because there are very casual things that are great for travel or everyday use, but there are also a lot of nice evening bags now that are great for a more upscale look, like the Taber Dumpling Bag (155 US -dollars), which is a really great option for vacation. I found it really easy to store all my essentials in the large bag ($115) and then put the bag in my pockets when I change them out – just an easy way to stay organized.”

Editor’s Note: Deschanel is currently partnered with Vera Bradley.

And slow holiday mornings are welcome

“Holiday mornings look a lot slower and lazier to us. Was probably Bake pancakes or waffles and watch a movie. My kids love watching movies and my son can watch the same movie over and over again. He’s really excited Jawso we watched that a lot.”
